Thar she blows: Breaching whale smashes boat in Cape Cod Bay
The vessel was damaged when the whale landed on it, but no injuries were reported
PLYMOUTH, Mass. - A whale breached the surface of Cape Cod Bay and landed on a boat over the weekend, prompting the harbormaster in Plymouth, Massachusetts to warn boaters to be aware of their surroundings.
No injuries were reported to anyone on the 19-foot vessel after the incident occurred Sunday in the waters off White Horse Beach. However, the boat was damaged.

The Plymouth Harbormaster notified the Massachusetts Environmental Police about the incident, which will now investigate.

"This interaction, while rare, is a reminder that these interactions can be dangerous for both boaters and whales," officials with the town of Plymouth said in a Facebook post.
Officials recommend boaters give a distance of at least 100 yards to minimize potential interactions with whales while out on the waters of Cape Cod Bay.
