COLUMBUS, Ohio - Video posted on social media Monday by the Olentangy Liberty High School softball showed players being pelted by hail during a thunderstorm last week just north of Columbus.
"We had some crazy weather on Friday with a hail storm that covered our field in a matter of 3 minutes," tweeted the team.
The footage showed the Ohio athletes running off the field as they were peppered by a deluge of white hailstones.

Some stayed behind and braved the hail, trying to put a net away. Others could be heard encouraging them to seek shelter instead.
"Leave it! Let’s go!" someone shouted in the video.

The National Weather Service reported 1-inch hail – about quarter-sized – just north of Columbus on Friday afternoon.
