Watch: Man nearly swept away as raging mudslide sweeps through Venezuela town
A man was trapped inside his SUV that was in the process of being scooped up by a raging mudslide in Maracay, Venezuela, Monday but managed to escape just seconds before his SUV was swept downriver.
Video shot in Maracay shows the power of the surging floodwaters, which carried off a car shortly after the driver got out.
MARACAY, Venezuela –As a torrent of mud and water raced through a Venezuelan town Monday, a man barely escaped being swept away in his SUV.
Video from the town of Maracay shows the chaotic scene during the deadly mudslide. A man was trapped inside his SUV that was in the process of being scooped up by the raging flood.
The man managed to escape just seconds before his SUV is swept downriver.

Officials said three people died in the slide, which left parts of the town covered waist-deep in mud and damaged several homes.
Heavy rains have plagued the region in October, with this mudslide coming on the heels of another deadly mudslide a week before that killed dozens in Las Tejerias, according to the Associated Press.
