HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A stalled storm system that produced a deadly tornado outbreak in the Mississippi River Valley this week has also produced dangerous flooding conditions across Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri.
Floodwaters surrounded some homes and inundated cars in Van Lear, Kentucky, prompting the rescue of six people, according to local rescue officials.
Homes were also surrounded by floodwaters in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where more than 8 inches of rain have fallen through Friday evening.

Multiple homes and cars were flooded across parts of Hopkinsville, Kentucky as relentless storms dropped more than 8 inches of rain through Friday afternoon, with several more inches still in the forecast through the weekend.

Toward central Kentucky in the town of White Mills, all lanes of KY Parkway at Exit 124 was flooded, according to Dustin Knight on X.

Floodwater covered all lanes of KY Parkway at Exit 124 in central Kentucky on Friday.
Flooding also overtook parts of Missouri. In the southern part of the state, floodwaters turned into a rushing river in the town of West Plains.
"Look at this madness," said Erik Martin, who posted the video below on X. He can be heard in the video noting that a picnic table had disappeared under the flood.

Floodwaters turned into a rushing river coursing through the central Missouri town of West Plains on Friday.
The town of Van Buren was also overtaken by floodwaters. The National Weather Service issued a rare Flash Flood Emergency for the town Friday evening and water rescues were under way.

These floods come after parts of Tennessee experienced downpours. Just south of Nashville in Leipers Fork, Tennessee, a road disappeared under floodwater.

Farther into Music City, the parking lot and entrance around the Belle Meade Country Club were completely flooded.
