Winter storm leaves behind travel mess in Indianapolis, IN
Heavy snow remains on the roads in downtown Indianapolis, IN, as FOX Weather Correspondent Robert Ray shows the mess left behind by a coast to coast winter storm.
A powerful winter storm is in its final stages, moving through the East Coast after bringing snow and ice to the Plains and Midwest. The dangerous conditions snarled travel over the weekend and into Monday.
Major travel impacts remain across the country. Interstate 70 is closed in both directions in Kansas from Salina to U.S. Route 177 due to blizzard conditions. The Kansas Department of Transportation noted that multiple state roads in north-central Kansas remain closed as well.
Snow reached the mid-Atlantic on Monday morning and caused significant delays and cancelations at major airports.

Meanwhile, folks in Philadelphia got to enjoy the "fun" part of the storm as described by FOX Weather Meteorologist Britta Merwin.
Philadelphia public schools were canceled, and some kids were able to enjoy the flakes outside the Rocky Steps outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Travel conditions were expected to worsen later Monday.

Philadelphians enjoy scenic snow as winter storm reaches the East Coast
Philadelphia enjoyed the side of the winter storm with "more fun" as FOX Weather meteorologist Britta Merwin shows. However, travel conditions are expected to worsen later in the day.
The Jersey Shore also got in on the winter storm action. The lagoon in Waretown froze and received a fresh coating of snow on Monday morning.

Pets also got to enjoy the snow day. Video from Columbia, Maryland, shows a dog frolicking in the flakes as snow reached Maryland Monday.

At the National Zoo in Washington D.C., two panda bears had fun galavanting in the snow Monday afternoon. The Washington D.C. area received a little more than five inches of snow.

The National Zoo giant pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, got to play in the snow Monday after roughly five inches fell in Washington D.C.
Hundreds of thousands of customers across Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky remain without power, according to PowerOutage.US.
In St. Louis, road conditions remained treacherous through Monday evening, with most interstates in the area still at least partly covered with snow, according to MoDOT.
In a video posted to X, the Saint Louis Zoo shared its polar bar, Kali, enjoying the freshly fallen snow Monday morning. The zoo was closed to the public Monday due to weather conditions.

Interstate 29 in and around St. Joseph, Missouri has reopened after being closed for parts of the weekend.

On Sunday, blizzard conditions were met at Kansas City International Airport, according to the National Weather Service.
A video posted by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) in Kansas City showed trucks working to plow snow from Interstate 435.

As snow continues to fall in Kansas City, MoDOT plows are working hard to clear highways covered in snow.
"It's a great day to stay in, make some french toast and watch some football. It's NOT a day to be on the roads. Our crews are hard at work in the storm," MoDOT said in a post to X Sunday morning.
Near St. Louis, sleet fell in Union, Missouri, coating sidewalks in a slick layer of ice.

Louisville is under a Winter Storm Warning as conditions continue to deteriorate from a winter storm that's moving toward the eastern half of the country. Snow and ice have been reported in and around Lousiville.
