Severe storms bring tornado threat to Ohio Valley, Northeast
Significant severe weather is moving across the Northeast and Ohio Valley Thursday evening placing nearly 40 million people under severe weather watches. A Tornado Watch is in effect for parts of New York and Pennsylvania.

Storms are producing hail across the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic. Video shows hail falling in Northern Virginia as the storms moved through.
The FOX Weather 3D Radar is tracking severe storms moving through the Charlotte metro. Several counties in both South Carolina and North Carolina are under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for the threat of damaging winds and large hail.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until midnight includes the DC-metro area and parts of Maryland, including Baltimore.
Washington is included in the newest Severe Thunderstorm Watch that has been issued by the Storm Prediction Center. The watch, which is in effect until midnight Eastern, also covers portions of Maryland, northern Virginia and far eastern West Virginia.
Severe Thunderstorm Watches remain in effect for parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, the Carolinas and Georgia.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect for much of Pennsylvania and New York state.
A new Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for northeast Georgia, western and central North Carolina, western and central South Carolina and southern Virginia. The watch runs until 9 p.m. ET.
The primary threat will include damaging winds up to 60 mph, and up to 1 inch hail.
Today marks the 52nd day with a "likely" threat or higher of severe weather.
Parts of Ohio are still recovering from Monday's derecho, which knocked out power to more than 400,000 homes and businesses.
The same area is now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 .m. ET. The Watch also includes Pittsburgh.
Forecasters with the NWS Storm Prediction Center have issued a Tornado Watch for parts of New York, Pennsylvania, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes.
