Tornado-warned storm moving north of Winston-Salem
A storm with rotation has triggered the National Weather Service to issue a Tornado Warning for areas north of Winston-Salem in North Carolina. The thunderstorm continues to move eastward and will impacts areas north of I-40.
Major damage is being reported around Mebane, N.C. associated with a severe thunderstorm that pushed through the region. The same storm has triggered Tornado Warnings north of Durham, N.C.

A tornado-warned storm is moving through western Virginia along I-81. Several towns are under the Tornado Warning as the cell moves off to the east-northeast.

Severe weather charging across the southeast and Mid-Atlantic has prompted nearly 30 active weather warnings. Nearly 3,000 lightning strikes have been recorded in the past 15 minutes.
New Tornado Warnings issued for North Carolina, Kentucky
More than 114,000 people in North Carolina are being told to shelter after the NWS issued a Tornado Warning in Lewisville, Bethania, Rural Hall and Tobaccoville until 3:45 p.m.
Another warning was also issued in Talbert, Kentucky.
We now have more than 12 million people under Tornado Watches with the latest watch that includes parts of Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia until 8 p.m. EDT.
Another Tornado Watch is ongoing until 7 p.m. for parts of Florida, Alabama and Georgia.
