Hundreds of lightning strikes in Minneapolis region
Hundreds of lightning strikes are occurring each minute in the Minneapolis metro. Recently, the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport reported a 61 mph wind gust.
Severe storms are expected to continue over the next hour as the line pushes to the north and east.
A dangerous line of storms is moving into the metro Minneapolis area which has triggered several Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings. A Tornado Warning has been issued for areas around Eagan, Burnsville and Lakeville until 9 p.m. CDT.
The National Weather Service says at 6:54 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located 6 miles southwest of Lafayette, or 7 miles north of New Ulm, moving northeast at 45 mph.
