Steve Bender
FOX Weather Meteorologist
Steve Bender joined FOX Weather as a Miami-based field correspondent in 2021. Most recently, he has hosted Fox Weather Live each night in New York, while also hosting the Storming the Field podcast weekly. On-air, Steve has covered major events like Hurricanes Helene, Ian, Milton, and Idalia, as well as tornado outbreaks, derechos, blizzards, wildfires, and flooding. In the field, he has traveled across the country covering natural disasters and even reported internationally from Glasgow, Scotland, during the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). Prior to joining the streaming service, Bender served as the morning meteorologist at KRNV-TV (NBC/Sinclair) in Reno, Nevada, for three years. From 2014 to 2018, he was the morning news anchor at KTAL-TV (NBC/Nexstar) in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he covered severe weather patterns impacting the Gulf Coast. He also worked as an anchor and evening meteorologist at WABG-TV (ABC-FOX/Cox) in Greenville, Mississippi. A graduate of the University of Central Florida, Bender earned his Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
