Winter storm expected to bring up to 8-12 inches of snow to central US

Low pressure emerging into the Central Plains on New Year’s Day will force a band of snow to develop from west to east through the weekend. From Kansas and Nebraska to Illinois and Michigan, 3-8 inches of snow is expected. Some locations could pick up 8-12 inches of accumulation.
