Multiday flash flood threat stretches from southern Plains to northern Rockies this week
The stagnant weather pattern that has plagued the Rockies for the past two weeks is expected to continue for another week as blocking over the central U.S. keeps the Plains and Rockies at risk of daily showers and thunderstorms. Another 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected, though the highest totals will be scattered in nature due to the overall coverage of thunderstorms. This will promote a multiday flash flood risk across the Plains and Rockies throughout the week. This pattern will be enhanced by a storm system hanging over California, which will only serve to increase the amount of moisture and instability.
