New reef tech to protect 1,700 military installations from damaging hurricane storm surge
The Defense Department is working with several universities to develop artificial coral reefs that would protect coastal bases like Tyndall Air Force Base from damaging storm surge caused by hurricanes. Hurricane Michael in 2018 caused more than $4 billion worth of damage to Tyndall AFB alone. FOX Weather's Brandy Campbell spoke with researchers at the University of Miami to find out what they are building to stand up against nature.
