Snow scientists to study impacts of snow on Minnesota drought
The winter storm hammering the Midwest allows snow scientists to conduct research through NOAA’s Airborne Snow and Soil Moisture Survey Program. Pilots and researchers aboard aircraft with sensors detect the amount of snow on the ground and how it absorbs moisture. This week, crews flew over Maine's snowpack and are now heading to Minnesota. Lt. Cmdr. Casey Marwine and snow scientist Carrie Olheiser join FOX Weather with the latest.
