Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for portions of North Carolina, Virginia

More than 8 million people in North Carolina and Virginia are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. Thursday as most of the southern U.S. braces for a prolonged stretch of rainy, stormy weather.
