Finally fall taking over the US with chilly temperatures by the weekend

The battle between summer and fall continues across the U.S. Many will finally feel the chill of fall while others will be stuck in the summer before a cooldown.

It's finally beginning to feel a lot like fall across the nation and in some areas winter.

A coast-to-coast storm will let chilly Canadian air push south and infiltrate much of the U.S. by the weekend.

"Tthis is really the first major outbreak of cold air that we're going to see for the season. And just put it in perspective, the last two days, we're talking Monday and Tuesday, Denver was 80 degrees and it was 76 yesterday. So you talk about summer," said Meteorologist Bob Van Dillen

"That's why it fell and not going to feel like that much longer. You can see the way it looks right now, feeling like winter for sure. Low temperatures in the morning," he continued. "When you wake up on Saturday, you're going at Denver, right about 34 degrees. Pueblo, 31, even cold, Kansas, 32 degrees, Casper into the 20.

But not everyone gets thrown into fall, and some into winter at the same time.

"To the south and east of this system, much above normal temperatures will overspread the Southern Plains, into the Midwest and East through Friday with afternoon maximums in the 70s likely or even the 80s for some," said the WPC's discussion.

HERE’S WHEN TO EXPECT YOUR FIRST FREEZE OF THE SEASON

The Southern Plains, South and Mid-Atlantic states will actually feel a brief warmup in the warm sector of the Storm on Thursday and part of Friday.

"To the south and east of this system, much above normal temperatures will overspread the southern Plains, into the Midwest and East Thursday and Friday with daytime highs in the 70s likely or even the 80s for some," wrote the WPC.

The mountains and Plains skip over fall and head straight to winter. Strong winds pick up on the back side of the storm. Winds usher in the cold air then chill everyone down a bit more with wind chills in the 20s.

Another cold front approaches the West Coast Sunday and Monday.

South
