Weekend severe weather blasts millions across central US as tornado cleanup continues in Oklahoma City

At least 11 people have been injured in Oklahoma City, and numerous homes and businesses received major damage because of the tornadoes. Crews are still working to clear debris from roadways and restore power. Oklahoma City is once again under a tornado threat on Monday.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Cleanup efforts continue in the Oklahoma City metro area after tornadoes caused widespread damage and injuries, and the city is once again under a tornado threat on Monday.

At least 11 people were injured in the city and numerous homes and businesses suffered major damage from the tornadoes over the weekend. Crews were busy working to clear debris from roadways and restore power, as a new tornado threat unfolded on Sunday.

HOW TO WATCH FOX WEATHER

The NWS said damage consistent with an EF-3 tornado was found on Sooner Road, and damage consistent with an EF-2 tornado was found in Comanche, Oklahoma. The storm survey is ongoing for the tornado that impacted Harrah, but that damage is also consistent with an EF-3 tornado.

Damaging winds and large hail have already pounded the region, with 80-mph wind gusts being reported in Checotah and Adair in Oklahoma during the severe weather late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Oklahoma City joined tens of millions of people in the central U.S. from Texas to the Midwest who were on alert for severe weather over the weekend.

As the next round of thunderstorms erupted later on Sunday and into Sunday night, more large hail and damaging wind reports were received in portions of Texas and Oklahoma.

Hail ranging between 1 inch to 1.25 inches was reported in Anson, Texas, as well as in Post.

Strong winds also blasted portions of Oklahoma, with reports of a box truck being blown over near Marietta, Oklahoma.

More severe storms are expected Monday, especially in the afternoon into early evening, from northeast Texas to southwest Missouri. Tornadoes, a couple of which may be strong, and damaging winds should be the main hazards.
