With grossly humid air in place, thunderstorms also had the potential to produce flash flooding.

In addition to the stormy weather in the Southeast, NOAA's Storm Prediction Center put parts of western Kansas in a Level 2 risk as well, warning of potential golf ball-size hail and thunderstorm-triggered wind gusts of 60 mph or higher.

The wet weather threat is expected to continue across most of the Lower 48 on Sunday, but a widespread severe weather outbreak is not anticipated.
