Snack hack: NFL stadium soil used to grow potatoes for popular tailgating munchie
Frito-Lay farmers have mixed the stadium soil into separate parts of the potato field to make chips infused with the grounds and the glory of each NFL team
Lay's growing potatoes using NFL stadium soil
Lay's is making its advertising return to the Super Bowl this year after a 17-year hiatus, and they're doing so by going back to their roots of "long legacy farming." The potato chip brand has launched Lay's Golden Grounds which are NFL team branded chips made with spuds grown in soil from 29 of the league's stadiums.
That next bag of potato chips you reach for could be made from spuds grown in soil from your favorite NFL stadium.
Yes, you could literally be eating a chip with six degrees of separation from Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers.
Lay’s is launching their limited-edition Golden Grounds chips which bring the passion for football from hallowed NFL grounds to life.
Twenty-nine teams from coast to coast were selected. Sorry, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Denver fans, your teams were not listed in the participating teams.
Under the careful watch of Frito-Lay farmers, the company said they mixed the soil into separate parts of the potato field to make chips infused with the grounds and the glory of each NFL team.
The limited-edition bags will also have keepsake packaging decorated with their NFL team colors and logos.

Lay’s celebrates football fandom with Golden Grounds: a first-of-its-kind lineup of NFL-inspired chips.

"The limited-edition chips are our way of celebrating fans who stand by their teams through victory, defeat and everything in between," said Stacy Taffet, vice president of marketing, Frito-Lay North America.
