Winter storm boosts business for Vermont ski resorts

STOWE, Vt. – More than a foot of snow fell in parts of Vermont, including Stowe, and that means plenty of fresh powder for ski resorts.
With this week’s winter storm, hotels are sold out, restaurants are packed and the parking lots at Stowe Mountain Resort are full of thousands of skiers and snowboarders.

Lucky for a pair from New Jersey who already had their trip booked, but they were even more excited for it when they saw a winter storm was in the forecast. They say their excitement peaked when they started to see snow totals.
And management at the resort said that it couldn’t have come at a better time.
"This is the powder day that we have been waiting for pretty much all season long," Adam White with Vail Resorts says. "It was a pretty lean start to the season, historically lean even, but Mother Nature has finally cooperated over the past few weeks."
Stowe might not have much snow in the forecast over the next several days, but the cold temperatures will ensure the snow sticks around for skiers and riders.
