Nearly a dozen vehicles stuck on an Austin-area freeway due to ice
A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect in the region.
AUSTIN, Texas – Icy conditions made for treacherous travel on Wednesday evening in parts of the Lone Star State.
Police said at least ten vehicles were stuck on an Austin-area flyover because of the ice on the freeways.
Emergency management encouraged drivers to avoid travel while officials treated roadways.
A winter storm produced rain and a variety of forms of frozen precipitation over Texas on Wednesday, and the threat is expected to continue into Thursday.

Many counties in central and northern Texas are under a Winter Weather Advisory into because of the continued threat of ice.
Meteorologists warned the freezing rain could produce a glaze on surfaces, making elevated roadways and overpasses slippery.
The chance of frozen precipitation will continue through at least Thursday evening before temperatures gradually warm over the weekend.

The threat of ice was the highest for areas for parts of northern Texas into the southern Ohio Valley.
